We would like to wish every mother a Happy Mother's Day

Collect: Almighty God, who hast given thine only Son to be unto us both a sacrifice for sin, and also an example of godly life: Give us grace that we may always most thankfully receive that his inestimable benefit, and also daily endeavour ourselves to follow the blessed steps of his most holy life; through the same Jesus Christ our Lord. Sat., May 14 th, the Dukes of Kent , along with Valley Voices and the Port Williams Elementary School Choir will be putting on a show, "A Rainbow of Voices." Tickets are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for seniors and students. I have tickets, and you can call Murray Phillips at 542-1342, or call 678-1638 or 678-0989.

Tues., May 17 th, 3 pm Pastoral Care meeting to be held at the home of Elizabeth Biggs.

Tues., May 17th, 6-9pm, St. John’s Parish Hall: Reading the Bible as an Anglican and Pre-Synod Regional Council meeting. We begin with a soup supper and presentation. The Regional Council meeting follows. All are welcome. Please sign up to come or to make soup.

Sat., June 11th, 10am to 3pm, St. James, Kentville: ?Training for Youth & Children’s Ministry-- You are invited to explore strategies for supporting families and keeping youth connected to the parish through the pre-teen and teen years. This will be an interactive learning event and an opportunity to see current curriculum and planning resources. This will be helpful to Sunday School teachers, youth leaders, clergy, and anyone working with the younger generation in our churches. Lunch is provided. The workshop will be led by Susan Naylor, Diocesan Youth Ministry Coordinator, and is sponsored by the Valley Regional Council. Please RSVP by Tuesday, June 7 to michelle.bull@ns.sympatico.ca.

Church News:

New Parish Hall Manager: At the Parish Council meeting on Sunday

night, we agreed to assign the parish hall management/bookings responsibilities to Debbie MacDonald, our Parish Administrative Assistant. We are still looking to fill the Sexton’s position, but this role will now be strictly custodial. If you would like to book our parish hall, please contact Debbie.

Parish Statement on “Generous Pastoral Response”:Parish Council

has approved a statement in response to the bishops’ pastoral letter on human sexuality. It summarizes the findings of our survey and suggests where we might go from here as a parish. Please pick up a copy at the back of the church. Please speak to one of the wardens or Sandra if you have comments. We will talk more about this following our Diocesan Synod in late May.

New Schedule:I will soon be doing up a new schedule for those who

assist with our Sunday worship services. Please let me know if you would like to be added as a reader, announcements leader, Eucharist Assistant, or intercessor (Prayers of the People). Also please let me know if you wish to be removed from the schedule roster. Email Debbie at idmac@eastlink.ca or call 542-9219.

School Supplies Campaign: Inside of your bulletin during the month

of May you will find a small envelope. We are collecting funds to purchase school supplies for the local schools. If you can help us with our campaign please fill out the label on the front of the  envelope and leave it on the collection plate. If you have any

questions, contact Ann Watson.

Rector’s schedule: Sandra will be in Truro on Monday for a Fresh

Start training session for clergy. She will be in the church office on Wednesday from 10am to noon and will be away from Thursday to Sunday to help with the Women’s Cursillo weekend.
