The Gathering of the Community
Processional Hymn: #450
You Call Us Lord to Be
You call us,
Lord, to be a people set apart,
to feel with
thoughtful mind and think with tender heart.
Refrain:
Thus chosen, now,
O Lord, we ask
for faith in your
unfailing grace
to make us equal to the
task.
You call us,
Lord, to care for self and neighbour too,
to
take the risk, and dare to show what love can do. Refrain
You call us, Lord, to be good stewards of the
earth;
to tend it as a place of blessedness and
worth. Refrain
You call us, Lord, to serve: to die that we may
live,
to know we best receive when joyfully we
give. Refrain
All remain standing. The bishop greets the
community.
Bishop Alleluia! Christ is risen.
People
The Lord is risen indeed. Alleluia!

People One God and Father of all.
The Collect
Bishop
Let us pray.

Psalm 139:1-9
Lord, you have
searched me out and known me; you know my sitting down and my rising
up; you discern my thoughts from afar.
You trace my
journeys and my resting-places and are acquainted with all my
ways.
Indeed, there is
not a word on my lips, but you, O Lord, know it altogether.
You press upon me
behind and before and lay your hand upon me.
Such knowledge is
too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot attain to it.
Where can I go
then from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence?
If I climb up to
heaven, you are there; if I make the grave my bed, you are there
also.
If I take the
wings of the morning and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,
Even there your
hand will lead me and your right hand hold me fast.
God of mystery
and power, even our minds and hearts are the veils and signs of your
presence. We come in silent wonder to learn the way of simplicity, the
eternal road that leads to love for you and for your whole creation.
We come as your Son Jesus Christ taught us, and in his name.
The second
reading.

Prayers of the People, led by Chloe Coombs

Let us pray for
those who are affirming their baptism, and for all the baptized

“Come, Holy Spirit, guide us through
life.”
At the conclusion
of the prayers, the Bishop prays,
Bishop
Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom
we
pray, trusting in your mercy, through your Son, Jesus Christ
our Lord. Amen.
Silence may be
kept. Then the bishop says,
Bishop
Almighty God, we thank you that by the death and
resurrection of your Son Jesus Christ you have overcome sin
and brought us to yourself, and that by the sealing of your
Holy Spirit you have bound us to your service. Renew in
these your servants the covenant you made with them at their
baptism. Send them forth in the power of that Spirit to
perform the service you set before them; through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and
the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
The bishop lays
his hand upon each one and says,
Strengthen, O Lord, your servant N with your Holy Spirit; empower him/her for your service; and sustain him/her all the days of his/her life. Amen.
Bishop Almighty and
everliving God, let your fatherly hand ever
be over these your servants; let your Holy Spirit ever be with
them; and so lead them in the knowledge and obedience of
your word, that they may serve you in this life, and dwell
with you in the life to come; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Offertory Hymn: The Boats Ride High (Farewell to Nova Scotia)
The boats ride high on a gentle swell,
And their crews are glad for the morning light.
In the places they have sought,
not a single fish was caught,
Though together they have laboured and have toiled all night.
“Cast your nets !” Comes a voice.
“Cast them on the other side!
You can hear my voice: You can trust my Word.
If you try the other side you can trust me as your guide.”
For the Master of the fisher folk is Christ the Lord.
The storm clouds drift in the darkening skies,
In the waves the boat begins to fill.
The disciples with their cries call the sleeper to arise;
At his bidding both the wild wind and the waves are still.
“Peace be still!” Hear his voice in the wind and the waves.
“I am he who calms. I am he who saves.
When you listen to the wind you are listening to my Word.”
For the Master of the stormy wave is Christ the Lord.
Each dawn light wakes us to join a throng
Who serve and give and who right the wrong.
By a Saviour we are sought; by his sacrifice are bought,
And his dying and his rising are our joyful song.
“Follow me!” Hear his voice.
“Take my hand and rejoice.
Share my bread, my wine, and my wondrous Word.
Until every journey’s end I will be a faithful friend,”
For the Master of all Journeying is Christ the Lord.
Prayer over the Gifts:
All
Gracious God, you show us your way and give us
your
divine life. May everything we do be directed by the
knowledge of your truth. We ask this in the name of Jesus
Christ the risen Lord.
Eucharistic
Prayer
Celebrant The Lord be with you.
People
And also with you.
Celebrant Lift up your hearts.
People
We lift them to the Lord.
Celebrant Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.
People
It is right to give our thanks and praise.
Celebrant We give you thanks and praise, almighty God,
through your beloved Son, Jesus Christ,
our Saviour and Redeemer.
He is your living Word,
through whom you have created all things.
By the power of the Holy Spirit he took flesh
of the Virgin Mary and shared our human nature.
He lived and died as one of us,
to reconcile us to you, the God and Father of all.
In fulfilment of your will
he stretched out his hands in suffering,
to bring release to those who place their hope in you;
and so he won for you a holy people.
He chose to bear our griefs and sorrows,
and to give up his life on the cross,
that he might shatter the chains of evil and death,
and banish the darkness of sin and despair.
By his resurrection
he brings us into the light of your presence.
Now with all creation we raise our voices
to proclaim the glory of your name.
All (sung) Holy, holy, holy Lord,God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest.
Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna in the highest.
Celebrant Holy and gracious God, accept our praise,
through your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ;
who on the night he was handed over
to suffering and death, took bread and gave you thanks,
saying, “Take, and eat:
this is my body which is broken for you.”
In the same way he took the cup,
saying, “This is my blood which is shed for you.
When you do this, you do it in memory of me.”
Remembering, therefore, his death and resurrection,
we offer you this bread and this cup,
giving thanks that you have made us worthy
to stand in your presence and serve you.
We ask you to send your Holy Spirit
upon the offering of your holy Church.
Gather into one all who share in these sacred mysteries,
filling them with the Holy Spirit
and confirming their faith in the truth,
that together we may praise you and give you glory
through your Servant, Jesus Christ.
All glory and honour are yours, Father and Son,
with the Holy Spirit in the holy Church, now and for ever.
People
Amen.
The Lord's
Prayer

we are bold to pray,
All
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy

Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power, and the glory,
for ever and ever. Amen.

#445 God the
Creator
God the Creator, you in love made me
who once was nothing but now have
grown.
I bring the best of all my life offers;
for you I share whatever I own.
O Christ the Saviour, you in love called
me
who once was no one, lost and alone.
I pledge to go wherever you summon,
making your will and purpose my own.
O God the Spirit, you in love move me
who once was nowhere and felt unknown.
I know my need of you for companion:
all things can change when not on my
own.
And with the people summoned together
to be the church in which faith is
sown,
I make my promise to live for Jesus
and let the world know all are his own.
#430 Will You
Come and Follow Me
"Will you come
and follow me if I but call your name?
Will you go where
you don't know and never be the same?
Will you let my
love be shown, will you let my name be known,
will you let my
life be grown in you and you in me?"
"Will you leave
yourself behind if I but call your name?
Will you care for
cruel and kind and never be the same?
Will you risk the
hostile stare, should your life attract or scare?
Will you let me
answer prayer in you and you in me?"
"Will you let the
blinded see if I but call your name?
Will you set the
prisoners free and never be the same?
Will you kiss the
leper clean, and do such as this unseen,
and admit to what
I mean in you and you in me?"
"Will you love
the you you hide if I but call your name?
Will you quell
the fear inside and never be the same?
Will you use the
faith you've found to reshape the world around,
through my sight
and touch and sound in you and you in me?"
Lord, your
summons echoes true when you but call my name.
Let me turn and
follow you and never be the same.
In your company
I'll go where your love and footsteps show.
Thus I'll move and live and grow in you and you in
me.
Prayer after Communion:
God of love, in
this eucharist we have heard your truth and shared in your life. May
we always walk in your way, in the name of Jesus Christ the Lord. Amen.
