the strength of all them that put their trust in thee: Mercifully accept

through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalm 13
How
long, O Lord? will you forget me for ever? how long will you hide your
face from me?
How
long shall I have perplexity in my mind, and grief in my heart, day
after day? how long shall my enemy triumph over
me?
Look
upon me and answer me, O Lord my God; give light to my eyes, lest I
sleep in death;
Lest
my enemy say, “I have prevailed over him,” and my foes rejoice that I
have fallen.
But
I put my trust in your mercy;
my heart is joyful because of your saving
help.
I
will sing to the Lord, for he has dealt with me richly; I will praise the name of the
Lord Most High.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.

Goodbye to our organist: We are sad to announce that our organist Paul Hutten has
accepted a position as Music Director with King’s Presbyterian Church in
New Minas, effective September 1st. We have valued Paul’s commitment to
our choir and the Acadia Music students who have become part of our
choir, thanks to his efforts. We have also appreciated Paul’s excellence
as a musician. We have been stretched, challenged and enlivened by his
musical leadership among us. We pray God’s blessing on Paul, his family
and the congregation of King’s Presbyterian as they prepare for this
transition in their lives. We will make plans for an appropriate way to
express our thanks to Paul later in the summer.
Welcome to our new Sexton:
The Personnel Committee is pleased to announce that the parish has hired
a new Sexton, Peter Brown. If you have specific requests about set up
for events or activities, call Peter at 542-1104. Hall bookings are
still being handled by our Administrative Assistant, Debbie MacDonald.
Removal of Choir Pews for the Summer: This week we will be removing the choir pews from the chancel
and moving the portable altar into the centre of the chancel, as per
last summer. The pews will be returned to their normal positions after
Labour Day and for Canon Elliott’s service of thanksgiving, or as
needed.
Parish Directory – Photos Needed:
Thank you to Mary Phillips, who volunteered to be a proofreader for our
Parish Directory. We still need photos of parish events and activities –
Cratchit’s Coffee Party, the Pancake/Turkey Suppers, our Harvest Dinner,
the Parish Picnic, Parish Breakfasts – see what you can find and bring
your photos in so we can celebrate our life together in the Parish of
Horton! And…if you did not have your photo
taken for the directory, please submit one and we’ll include it. We
would like everyone in our parish family to be a part of the
directory.
HABITAT FOR HUMANITY UPDATE: Are you ready to swing a hammer, drive a nail and help us
with the build on Maple Avenue? We need volunteers every Wednesday and
Saturday. There will be many different tasks and no one will be expected
to do anything which requires skilled tradespeople. You will be
supervised, provided with all tools, hardhats and safety boots, so all
you need to do is wear appropriate clothing for working on a build site,
and bring a smile, some water or drink. We even have a BBQ set up for
lunch. Work days start at 9am and go to around 3 or 4pm. If you would
like to help, contact our volunteer coordinator, Judy Rafuse at
judy.rafuse@hotmail.com . Please give her a week's notice. We will at
least need 8-10 volunteers per day.
Cookies and Campers needed:
St. Anne’s Junior Camp is being held from July 11th to
15th. Brochures and registration forms are at the back of the
church. Please pick up a copy and pass it on. With the mail strike, it
will be important to get these into the hands of families with children
and youth so that everyone will be registered in time. If you can help
by making cookies, let Sandra know. They are always enjoyed by staff and
campers alike!
Parish Statement on the Bishop’s Pastoral Letter on Human
Sexuality:
Copies are available at the back of the church. A bishop’s guideline
based on this pastoral letter should be ready by the end of June. Copies
will be available for those who wish to review the
guideline.
Got some good news to share? If you have good news to share about you or your family,
please let Debbie or Sandra know and we’ll try to include it in the
following week’s bulletin.
Rector’s schedule: Sandra will be in the church office on Monday from 2-5pm and
will be off on Friday and Saturday. Happy Canada
Day!!
