Cycle
of Prayer
Within
the Worldwide Anglican Church
We pray for for all people and their ministries
in our Companion
Diocese of Manicaland in Zimbabwe.
We pray for healing and reconciliation in the
Holy Land, and give
thanks for the witness of the Christian Church
in Jerusalem
We pray for the upcoming meeting of the Primates
of the Anglican
Communion (January 25-31
in Dublin): Lord Jesus Christ, you
washed your disciples' feet, and called them to follow your example.
Bless the leaders of our churches as they gather at the Primates'
Meeting. As they take counsel together, give them grace to grow in
prayer and fellowship, so they may bear one another's burdens and
share one another's joys, and find mutual support in their heavy
responsibilities of servant leadership. Refresh and encourage them
as they meet, and empower them to lead your people in lives of
faithful worship, witness and service, that bring your redemptive
gospel to this broken and needy world. Amen. From the Most Revd
Dr Thabo Makgoba, Archbishop of Cape Town
Within the Canadian
Church
We pray for the Diocese of Fredericton,
Archbishop Claude Miller.
We pray for our sister parish of St. George in
Ste. Anne-de-Bellevue.
Within our Diocese
In the Prince Edward Island Region, we pray for
the parishes of
Port Hill and St. Paul’s, Charlottetown.
We pray for our Bishops, Sue Moxley and Bruce;
Ron Cutler and
Marianne.
Within our Parish
We pray for this parish of Horton, entrusted to
us by almighty God,
and give thanks for the faithful leadership of
our parish council
We pray for those who are in any need or
distress: the sick, the lonely,
and all who are undergoing medical treatments or
recovering from surgery; that they might find comfort in God’s
abiding presence.
We give thanks for those who have departed this
life in faith and obedience, remembering especially Sieta Vander
Heide and the Rev’d Dr. Robert Crouse; we pray for Rose and Paul
Hutten and their family and all mourning the loss of loved ones:
that the Lord would surround them with his love and mercy.
Flower Memorial
The flowers on the altar are offered to the
glory of God and in loving memory of all faithful Sanctuary Guild

From Ian and Debbie
MacDonald: Thank you to everyone who
called, sent emails, brought food, walked the dog and prayed for my
recovery from a broken back due to a fall over the Christmas
Holidays. Ian and I truly appreciate all your help and are grateful
for having so many friends, doing what they can for us, at this
difficult time. From Ian and Debbie MacDonald -- we thank you.
Bulletin Notices:
Barb
Parsons has offered to produce our bulletin while Debbie MacDonald
recovers from a bad fall. To assist Barb, please have bulletin
announcements to her by 5pm on Wednesdays. You can send them to
her at barb.parsons@dal.ca
Survey on Bishops’
Pastoral Letter on Human Sexuality: Please complete the
survey found at the back of the church, if you haven’t already done
so. This will help parish council to determine our next steps as we
respond to the Bishops’ pastoral letter outlining possible pastoral
responses for same-sex couples seeking ministry from the church.
Thank you to all who have completed surveys.
Parish
Council Highlights – Dec. 2010 & Jan. 2011
Parish Annual General Meeting: February 20,
2011. In preparation we will be looking for 2-3 new people to join
Parish Council.
We were disturbed to hear the news of our
Administrative Assistant, Debbie MacDonald’s accident. We’re glad
she’s home and recuperating. Many thanks to Barb Parsons for
offering to do the Bulletin in the interim.
We have received a detailed report from The
Ecclesiastical Insurance Co. Their findings were very positive and
said our parish is being operated very well. We have a few
requirements to implement and some others to consider. One
consideration is keeping a Snow and Salt Log.
We will once again be doing a Parish Photo
Directory. This is scheduled for April 7, 8 & 9.
We have made application through the Anglican
Growth for Ministry Fund in partnership with Acadia University with
the hopes of securing employment for Rosa Ochola to work with
international students at Acadia. We will know in February if it has
been approved.
Treasurer’s Report – Well done parishioners-we
had a huge influx of money at the end of the year and our Christmas
offerings were the highest ever! We ended the year with a deficit of
$-625.00. Many thanks!! A financial statement for 2010 will be
included next week.
The Budget for the upcoming year was presented
and we will once again be faced with a challenge. Our Diocesan
Allotment is very high as it is based on our income of the previous
year. It was during that time we sold the land behind the church
which increased our income.
In December Parish Council approved
recommendations for our annual Outreach contributions. This will
change significantly in Dec. 2011 as we have not budgeted for this
expense. If Parishioners wish to donate money for Outreach, please
specify this at the time of giving.
The WAICC 40th
Anniversary dinner and celebration will be Wednesday, May
11th.* Each parish has been
asked to contribute with entertainment. *The date given at the
meeting was incorrect; this is the correct date.
The Parish Hall windows have been winterized
with removable caulking.
A motion was put forward and approved that
Parish Council promote the growth of our parish by encouraging
families to join us in 2011.
