Hymn #5, Christ Whose Glory Fills the Skies
We
gather here in your presence, God,
In
our need and bringing with us the needs of the world.
We
come to you, for you come to us in Jesus,
And
you know by experience what human life is like.
We
come with our faith and our doubts;
We
come with our hopes and with our fears.
We
come as we are, because you invite us to come;
And
you have promised never to turn us away.
An
act of confession
Bless
the Lord who forgives all our sins. His mercy endures for ever.
Holy
God, maker of all, Have mercy on us.
Jesus
Christ, servant of the poor, Have mercy on us.
Holy
Spirit, breath of life, Have mercy on us.
Knowing
that God offers us forgiveness and healing, let us confess our sins in
the presence of God and of one another.
Most
merciful God, we have not loved you with our whole heart; we have not loved
our neighbours as ourselves. For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, forgive
what we have been, accept us as we are, and guide what we shall be.
The
choir will lead us in singing
Lord,
have mercy. Christ, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.
God
of mercy, you forgive us our past sin, you strengthen us in your gift of
eternal life, you shape us for glory. God of mercy, we thank you. Amen
Let
us pray. Almighty God, whose Son Jesus Christ gives the water of eternal
life, may we always thirst for you, the spring of life and source of goodness;
through him who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God,
now and for ever. Amen.

Psalm
63
O
God, you are my God, I seek you, my soul thirsts for you; my flesh faints
for
you, as in a dry and weary land where there is no water.
So
I have looked upon you in the sanctuary, beholding your power and glory.
Because
your steadfast love is better than life, my lips will praise you.
So
I will bless you as long as I live; I will lift up my hands and call on
your name.
My
soul is satisfied as with a rich feast, and my mouth praises you with joyful
lips
when
I think of you on my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night;
for
you have been my help, and in the shadow of your wings I sing for joy.
My
soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me.
Glory
be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the
beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.
