The Week of Prayer for Christian Unity Service is to be held tonight,
January 20th at Greenwich United Church at 7:30 p.m. The theme of the worship
is "How can I Keep From Singing with guest preacher Dr. Nancy Cocks. All

St. John's Anglican Church, Parish of Horton is presenting a Speaker
series entitled, "Wither Religion". The series will be held Tuesday
evenings in January, beginning the 8th, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Fountain
Commons - Great Hall, Acadia University Campus. The series begins with
a Survey of the World Religious Environment; continues with Problems Facing
Islam Here and Abroad and Maintaining Jewish Traditions in Isolated Areas;
and culminates with a Panel Discussion on Facing Challenges in the various
Christian Denominations. More details may be found on the flyer posted
at the back of the church.

Annual Ecumenical Service: Sun. Jan. 20, 7:30 PM, Greenwich United Church.
The
Wolfville Area Inter-church Council (WAICC) invites you to join with
members of other churches in our community at the annual Week of Prayer
for Christian Unity service. Resources prepared by the World Council
of Churches will be used and each church has selected a favourite hymn.
The speaker is Presbyterian pastor, the Rev. Dr. Nancy Cocks, professor
of pastoral theology at the Atlantic School of Theology. Dr. Cocks
has served on the World Council of Churches’ Faith and Order Commission
(the people who prepare resources for the Week of Prayer), and on the staff
of the Canadian Council of Churches as the Secretary for Faith and Witness.
Her address, An Ecumenical Excursion, will reflect upon 100 years of prayerful
ecumenism.
Daily Service at Manning Memorial Chapel: Mon. Jan. 21 to Fri. Jan.
25.
The University Chaplain, the Rev. Tim McFarland, and WAICC invite you
to attend a short daily service (11:30 – 11:50 AM) at the Chapel to further
reflect upon and pray for Christian unity. These services will include
special prayers prepared by the World Council of Churches and the Pontifical
Council for Christian Unity. Everyone is welcome.
Wednesday Church service will be held at the Wolfville Elms and the
Wolfville Nursing Home Wednesday, February 6th, 2008 10:15am and
11:00am. Anyone who would like to worship with us is welcome.
Choir meets every Thursday Night at 7:30 p.m. in the sunroom. For further
information, please speak with Don Corbett.
Wednesday Night Services at the Manning Memorial Chapel at Acadia are
held at 6:15 p.m. All are welcome to join us for our Evening Prayers.

ACW MEETING - January 21, 2008 at 12 noon - BRING AND BUY SALE: Bring
a sandwich and enjoy the fun of 'bringing' and 'bidding' on objects that
you may not need but someone else can use. Tea and coffee will be
supplied. 'Sock money' can be turned in at this meeting.
WAICC/ Wolfville Area Food Bank
As always, donations of food items such as soup, powdered milk, juice,
cans of tuna, salmon, ham, turkey, tomatoes and other vegetables and fruits,
pasta and pasta sauces, oatmeal, peanut butter, personal hygiene products
and household cleaning items are most welcome.

In view of this, there will be a celebratory Tea and Open House from
3:00 to 5:00 PM on Friday, February 1 in the downstairs hall at the
Wolfville Baptist Church. This celebration will particularly honour
our hard-working volunteers, as well as all those who have contributed
so generously to the food bank over the year. All those interested
are welcome to attend.
Art show and sale, Saturday, January 26th, 1-5pm at the Wolfville Professional
Centre, 4 Little Road, Wolfville, if there is a storm on that day it
will be held on Sunday January 27th 1-5pm.
