Psalm 139 1-6, 13-18
Lord,
you have searched me out and known me;
you
know my sitting down and my rising up; you discern my thoughts from
afar.
You
trace my journeys and my resting-places and are acquainted with all
my ways.
Indeed,
there is not a word on my lips, but you, O Lord, know it
altogether.
You
press upon me behind and before and lay your hand upon
me.
Such
knowledge is too wonderful for me; it is so high that I cannot
attain to it.
For
you yourself created my inmost parts; you knit me together in my
mother’s womb.
I
will thank you because I am marvellously made; your works are
wonderful, and I know it well.
My
body was not hidden from you, while I was being made in secret and
woven in the depths of the earth.
Your
eyes beheld my limbs, yet unfinished in the womb; all of them were
written in your book; they were fashioned day by day, when as yet
there was none of them.
How
deep I find your thoughts, O God! how great is the sum of
them!
If
I were to count them, they would be more in number than the sand; to
count them all, my life span would need to be like
yours.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy
Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world
without end. Amen.

Changes in worship schedule for September: what do you
think?
For the remainder of our 10am worship services this
month, we will use the format from The Book of Alternative Services
found in our parish booklet The Book of Services. We
normally alternate between the BAS and BCP, except for the
5th Sunday of the month, when we use liturgies from other
countries or traditions. Since September is a time of transition
when many return to church after a long absence, the wardens and I
agree that this temporary change in our worship schedule will be
helpful. However, some parishioners have asked for more BAS worship
on a regular basis. What do you think? We will discuss this further
at our September 12th Parish Council meeting as we
consider our worship plans for the fall and the need to update The Book of Services. I know
that each of you will have an opinion on this. Please talk to me or
to one of the wardens to make your views known.
