The Proclamation of the Word

First Reading, followed by the psalm

Psalm 72:1-4, 7, 12-15a

Give the king your justice, O God,

and your righteousness to the king’s son;

That he may rule your people righteously and the poor with justice;

That the mountains may bring prosperity to the people,

and the little hills bring righteousness.

He shall defend the needy among the people;

He shall rescue the poor and crush the oppressor.

In his time shall the righteous flourish;

There shall be abundance of peace till the moon shall be no more.

For he shall deliver the poor who cries out in distress,

and the oppressed who has no helper.

He shall have pity on the lowly and poor;

He shall preserve the lives of the needy.

He shall redeem their lives from oppression and violence,

and dear shall their blood be in his sight.

Long may he live! Amen and Amen.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit,

As it was in the beginning, is now and will be for ever. Amen.

Prayers of the People (ALL STAND)

In hope for our future and in solidarity with our sisters and brothers around the world, let us pray to the Lord saying,

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Confession and Absolution

Presider Dear friends in Christ, as we hear the stories of our sisters and     brothers around the world, we become aware of their need,

of our complicity in unjust economic and social structures,

of our position of privilege in this world.

God is a God of generous love for us, a God of infinite mercy,

who welcomes all sinners to this holy table.

Let us, therefore, confess our sins,

              confident in God’s forgiveness.                        Silence

Presider Most merciful God,

All        We confess that we have sinned against you

in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done,

and by what we have left undone.

              We have not loved you with our whole heart;

we have not loved our neighbours as ourselves.

We are truly sorry and we humbly repent.

For the sake of your Son Jesus Christ, have mercy on us

and forgive us, that we may delight in your will,

and walk in your ways, to the glory of your name. Amen.

Presider Almighty God have mercy upon you, pardon and deliver you       from all your sins, confirm and strengthen you in all goodness,

and keep you in eternal life; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

People Amen.

Greeting of Peace

Presider: That we may be a sign of hope for the world,

let us be at peace with one another.

The peace of the Lord be always with you.

People: And also with you.

The members of the community greet one another in the name of the Lord.

The Celebration of the Eucharist

Offertory Hymn

Prayer over the Gifts

Presider             Gracious God, you call your people to serve you by

serving the least among us. Accept all we offer you                         this day, that as we give it, we may also give ourselves

in your service, through our Saviour, Jesus Christ.                            Amen.

The Great Thanksgiving

Presider             The Lord be with you.

People               And also with you.

Presider             Lift up your hearts.

People                We lift them to the Lord.

Presider             Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

People                It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Presider             We give you thanks and praise, almighty God,

for the gift of a world full of wonder,

and for our life which comes from you.

By your power you sustain the universe.

You created us to love you with all our heart,

and to love each other as ourselves,

but we rebel against you by the evil that we do.

In Jesus, your Son, you bring healing to our world

and gather us into one great family.

Therefore, with all who serve you on earth and in heaven, we praise your wonderful name, as we sing,

All                      Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might,

heaven and earth are full of your glory.

Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest.

Presider             We give you thanks and praise, loving Father,

because in sending Jesus, your Son, to us

you showed us how much you love us.

He cares for the poor and the hungry.

He suffers with the sick and the rejected.

Betrayed and forsaken, he did not strike back

but overcame hatred with love.

On the cross he defeated the power of sin and death.

By raising him from the dead you show us the power

of your love to bring new life to all your people.

On the night before he gave up his life for us,

Jesus, at supper with his friends, took bread,

gave thanks to you, broke it, and gave it to them,

saying, ATake this, all of you, and eat it:

this is my body which is given for you.@

After supper, Jesus took the cup of wine, said the blessing, gave it to his friends, and said,

ADrink this, all of you: this is the cup of my blood,

the blood of the new and eternal covenant which is shed for you and for many, so that sins may be forgiven. Do this in memory of me.”

Gracious God, with this bread and wine

we celebrate the death and resurrection of Jesus,

and we offer ourselves to you in him.

Send your Holy Spirit on us and on these gifts,

that we may know the presence of Jesus

in the breaking of bread,

and share in the life of the family of your children.

                            Father, you call us to be your servants;

fill us with the courage and love of Jesus,

that all the world may gather in joy

at the table of your kingdom.

We sing your praise, almighty Father,

through Jesus, our Lord,

in the power of the Holy Spirit, now and for ever.

People                Amen.

The Lord=s Prayer

Presider             As our Saviour taught us, let us pray,

All                      Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come, your will be done,

on earth as in heaven. Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us. Save us from the time of trial,

and deliver us from evil. For the kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours, now and for ever. Amen.

The Breaking of the Bread

Presider             “I am the bread which has come down from heaven,” says the Lord.

People                Give us this bread for ever.

Presider             “I am the vine, you are the branches.”

People                May we dwell in him, as he lives in us.

Presider             The gifts of God for the people of God.

People                Thanks be to God.

The Communion

For health reasons, please do not dip the communion bread into the wine.

Communion hymns

Prayer after Communion

Presider             Giver of all life, we praise you for all the gifts you give

to your children. Give us the grace to minister to one

another in reverence for all human life, relieving the

burdens of impoverishment, hunger, oppression and fear, that all your people of all languages, races and nations may come to your eternal kingdom where there is peace and plenty for all; in the name of Christ Jesus our Lord.

People:               Amen.

Presider:            Glory to God,

All:                     whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine. Glory to God from generation to generation, in the Church and in Christ Jesus, for ever and ever. Amen.

Blessing

Presider             May yours be the eyes of Christ that you may see others as your sisters and brothers. May yours be the heart of Christ that those who suffer may drink from the deep well of compassion. May yours be the embrace of Christ that all may be welcomed as God has welcomed us. And may the blessing of God: Fountain of being, Word eternal, and Holy Spirit be with you now and remain with you forever.

All                      Amen.

The Dismissal and Call to Missional Service

Voice 1              Hear the words of the prophet Micah: AWith what

shall I come before the Lord, and bow myself before God on high?....

Voice 2              …God has told you, O mortal, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?@          (Micah 6.6, 8 NRSV)

Voice 1              Let us go forth to live the words we pray. Alleluia!

People                Thanks be to God. Alleluia!
